• Unknown Error (-20) when backing up an iPhone 4 in iTunes 9.2

I encountered an unfortunate situation with my shiny new iPhone 4 where every time I tried doing a sync / backup in iTunes, the sync would go fine but I’d get an error as soon as the backup started. My solution was to point a finder window to:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

And set aside the preexisting backups. I did this, relaunched iTunes and the sync followed by a backup went flawlessly.

  • Freelance Whales: Weathervanes

I can’t get the guitar from “We could be friends” out of my head. They have a another free mp3 on their site but really the whole album is solid:

  • Mimicking Birds home recordings

Mimicking Birds new self titled album is pretty much already secured itself as one of my top picks of the year. I’ve been falling asleep to it and playing it in my morning rotation for the last few weeks and it’s really just a solid album all around. Happy was I to find that they have a slew of home recordings posted on their virb page here.

    A couple of my favorites:

mimicking birds - On the Warm Side
mimicking birds - Rivers, Veins, and Roots
mimicking birds - The Fear Parade

  • Concours d’Elegance new music

I have to say, watching Concours d’Elegance play some newer songs the other day at the High Dive has me pretty excited for them to release a record.

Check out their 4 song “demonstration ep” here: http://www.ilovecde.com/download/

Or see them live, March 17th at the Comet!

  • Building a website that works (for me)

I’m a big fan of building new sites and (un)fortunately I tend to not keep them around long always moving onto some new idea. Well my new idea I’m hoping may have a little more hold. You see, there are things I do online and continue doing on line. I love to use twitter and flickr for instance. I appreciate the social aspects behind blogger and tumblr but prefer the control of a wordpress blog.

I can aggregate a lot of my personal content into my facebook feed. Great! However facebook is convoluted and has a million features I don’t really care about not to mention it doesn’t let me personalize it the way I’d like to. So the idea is this, create a site that will aggregate my content. My friends can find the site and see what I’m up to and they don’t have to have a facebook account.
